is Blue Eye Technology? How does it work? Why it made? I have already written
on artificial intelligence. In AI or artificial intelligence machine get the
ability to think and take decisions according to situation like a human brain.
Similarly Blue Eye Technology is related to artificial intelligence. Blue Eye
Technology is made up of two words – Blue and Eyes. The word ‘Blue’ is taken
from word Bluetooth which is inbuilt application in every smart phones and the
word ‘eye’ is normal to human eye. In this technology eye is used to trace out
the facial recognition and expressions. If we talk about a human, it has many
expressions which changes according to situations like happiness, sadness, etc.
Is
there anything built in machines/robots which can analyze the human expressions
by tracing out. Suppose I am sitting in front of my computer and I am sad. Is
it possible for a machine which can tell that I am sad or happy? How it will be
possible? Blue eyes technology is developed for this. If the technology
combined with artificial intelligence result will be a killer combination. Just
think and feel if a computer can tell about human expressions.

Let see what makes the blue eye technology?
This
technology consists of a unit called data acquisition unit which collects the
data from a specified place. After data acquisition unit central unit system
comes into play which analyzes and process the data, here the data exchange
takes place with help of application called Bluetooth. Let see what are data
acquisition unit and central system unit:
1. Data
Acquisition Unit is a mobile part of the Blue eyes system. Its main task is
to fetch the physiological data from the sensor and to send it to the central
system to be processed.
2. Central
System Unit is the second peer of the wireless connection. The box contains
a Bluetooth module and a PCM codec for voice data transmission. The module is
interfaced to a PC using a parallel, serial and USB cable.
Blue
eye technology is future technology and it will be combined with the artificial
intelligence and surely in future this will give us shocking results. The Blue
Eye technology aims at creating computational machines that have perceptual and
sensory ability like those of human beings. It uses non-obtrusive sensing
method, employing most modern video cameras and microphones to identify the user’s
actions through the use of imparted sensory abilities. The machine can
understand what a user wants, where he is looking at, and even realize his
physical or emotional states. It has the ability to gather information about you
and interact with you through special techniques like facial recognition,
speech recognition, etc. It can even understand your emotions at the touch of
the mouse. It verifies your identity, feels your presence, and starts
interacting with you .You asks the computer to dial to your home urgently. It realizes
the urgency of the situation through the mouse, dials your mother at home, and
establishes a connection. Human cognition depends on highly developed abilities
to perceive, integrate, and interpret visual, auditory, and touch information.
Without any doubt, computers would be much more powerful than human if combined
with AI.
The key
features of the blue eye technology are visual attention monitoring, physiological
condition monitoring, wireless data
acquisition using Bluetooth technology, real time user defined alarm triggering,
physiological data, operator's voice and overall view of the control room
recording recorded data playback.
Applications:
1. It can be used in the
field of security & controlling, where the contribution of human operator
required in whole time.
2. Engineers at IBM's office: Smart tags Research Center in San Jose, CA, report that a number of large retailers have implemented surveillance systems that record and interpret customer movements, using software from Almaden's Blue Eyes research project. Blue Eyes is developing ways for computers to anticipate users' wants by gathering video data on eye movement and facial expression. Your gaze might rest on a Web site heading, for example, and that would prompt your computer to find similar links and to call them up in a new window. But the first practical use for the research turns out to be snooping on shoppers.
3. Another application would be in the automobile industry. By simply touching a computer input device such as a mouse, the computer system is designed to be able to determine a person's emotional state.
Conclusion
Blue Eyes need for a
real-time monitoring system for a human operator. The approach is innovative since it helps supervise the operator not the process, as it is
in presently available solutions. This system in its commercial release will
help avoid potential threats resulting from human errors, such as weariness,
oversight, temporal indisposition. In future it is possible to create a
computer which can interact with us as we interact each other with the use of
Blue Eyes technology.
