Aircraft Comparison of Fifth Generation Aircraft
The era of the fifth-generation fighter aircraft was ushered in with the introduction of the USAF Lockheed F-22 Raptor Air Superiority Platform in 2005. Today we will be doing an aircraft comparison between two most advanced Fifth-Generation Fighter Aircraft Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor And F-35 Lightning II. First let's get into basics the f-22 Raptor developed by Lockheed Martin and Boeing. F22 is a single-seat twin-engine fifth-generation extremely advanced tactical fighter, the stealth integrated avionics and superior performance makes the F-22 a super maneuverable fighter. The f-35 lightning II is the only international fifth-generation multi-role fighter plane in the world. The extreme agility and stealth features along with an integrated sensor package and modern weaponry provides the F-35 with the tactical edge over all other fighter aircraft.

Dimensions of Jets:
The dimensions F-22 Raptor stretch 62 feet, 44.4 9 feet wide and over 16 feet in height. Its empty weight is approximately 14,500 kilograms and Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) of almost 25,000 kilograms while the overall dimensions of F-35 Lightning are smaller than F-22 Raptor with length of approximately 50 feet wingspan of almost 35 feet and a height of over 17 feet. It’s weight is about 13,155 kilograms and it has a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) of almost 32,000 kilograms. The F-22 derives its power from the pairing of two Pratt & Whitney F119 PW100 Thrust Vectoring Turbofan Engines delivering up to 35,000 pounds of full thrust than most of any other fighter engine currently in use anywhere. The F-35 Lightning II uses a single Pratt & Whitney F-15 F119 PW100 turbofan developing four thousand pound thrust with afterburner with General Electric GE-F120 alternate core engine.

Aircraft Performance:
The two engines provide the F-22 with the top speed of over 1500 mph that is Mach 2.25 at altitude and went on super cruise the F-22 can hit a maximum listed speed of mach 2.0 aid that is 2574 km/h. The maximum altitude it can sustain is 50,000 feet and has a maximum range of up to 3,218 kilometers. On the other hand 40,000 pound thrust engine provides F-35 Lightening to a maximum speed of Mach 1.6 that is 1930 km/h with same altitude as F-22 Raptor and a range of 2,220 kilometers.
